Justin Bieber Ruins Steampunk?

People say that this video ruins steampunk, but I really don’t see it. Steampunk was already becoming mainstream, and Justin Bieber doesn’t seem to be that bad. He doesn’t seem rude or trashy like a lot of the other stars you see now, so I think steampunk could be embarrassed by worse people. But that’s my opinion. Feel free to let me know what you think in the comments (politely of course).

And if you like the video but don’t like him, someone edited him out and changed the tune to Dr. Steel’s “Build the Robots”. Just search ’ Beiber minus Beiber ’ on youtube. Thanks again for supporting SteamPunk Elementary!

( PS - They all stole their dance moves from me. Except Bieber, I lay no claim to those moves. - Colton )

More Concept Art

We're seeing some more incredible concept art, for the first book of the SteamPunk Elementary series,  from the very talented Elijah Henry. Things are looking great so far. Heather and I will be celebrating our first anniversary tomorrow, but we've been together over 5 years now. I hope everyone continues to enjoy the concept art that is posted while we go through the process of being published. Thanks everyone!

Illustrator

Wow! It's not easy getting an illustrator. Wish I could draw... I tried, but the results were... not pretty, shall we say. However, our illustrator got us a sketch today that we thought reminded us of Gabe. I wonder if you'll think the same? We've also had more friends reading and editing the book so it's doing quite well, but maybe I'm a little biased. Well, I love this first illustration, but it's time to get back to work.

Geared Up

Young Sam finds himself whisked away and immersed in a strange world of gears and cogs and battling robots. We join him as he tries to make sense of this strange new world and as he makes friends along the way.

Or something along those lines. Welcome to my first blog involving SteamPunk Elementary. I'm a certified elementary school educator, and my husband is insane. What? He is! I just try to occasionally grab some of these crazy ideas he spouts out, and capture them on paper. Then begins the arduous task of making it sound less nuts. We balance each other out very well I think. He runs around like a squirrel with coffee, and I try to make sure we have some nuts and grain for winter.

We are currently working on getting the first book in our SteamPunk Elementary series published, and we hope that when it becomes available, you'll snag a copy. Having a degree in early education, I couldn't resist tossing in some 3rd grade - 5th grade standards as we wrote this first book. Rest assured, this book is still quite funny but without being crude. You'll find yourself just as engaged as your children are and looking forward to seeing what happens next! Thanks for joining us on this journey!
